Just Daddy & Me.... :)

Last week, I went to work with my daddy. Yes, just me. I had a wonderful time! It turned out that he was going to see Rock City to look at some gates he may be able to make for them, and so I got to go too! :) I was excited... but you can see that I was ill prepared. After they had taken us to look at what dad might be working on, they gave us a map and said we were happy to walk around. I had my big leather purse... and flip-flops! True, I had brought work shoes to wear at the shop, but they were left waaayyy back in the car. Oh well, I loved it anyway. :)

I do love him so! :)

(taken with daddy's phone. My eyes are lit up!) :) lol

That day was so much fun. After walking around Rock City, we went to lunch, and then were off to the shop. I got to use some of the power tools! :)
I love being with daddy, and am so thankful we were able to spend all day together! We had many interesting conversations, and talked of all kinds of things. :) Thank you daddy-dear!

Aww, I love this post, Hannah! :) So very sweet. I'm glad you had all that time together; that's wonderful! I know how you feel; I love spending special father daughter time with my daddy. :) The retreats we've gone to have been so great, and through those, we've grown even closer. These past couple weeks, there have been some really great conversations in our house between Daddy and me on a couple different topics. Ah, the joys of father/daughter time! :) I just wish more daughters had good relationships with their fathers like we do!

Great pictures, by the way! :) Lookout's such a beautiful area!

Aww, thank you Bekah! I loved your sweet comment. :) I agree with you completely too.. the relationship between fathers and daughters is a very precious one. I am thankful God gave us the opportunity to have such a close one with our fathers; and parents period! I cherish the time spent with them. Aren't we blessed?! I'm glad God saw fit to open our eyes to realize how special it is. :)

Love ya dear!

Ha- the song "Daughters" just started playing on my Pandora station! Fitting, wouldn't you say?? :)

How neat; I would say that's very fitting! :) Love that song!

It is indeed so precious. My heart aches for those girls who don't understand that, but instead push their fathers away. And also for those girls who don't have fathers in their lives at all. My heart also breaks for those years of my own life when I was in my old church's youth group and very much rather be with my friends than my family, particularly my father. But, how gracious our Lord is! He certainly has and does restore the years the locusts had eaten. :) Christ's Church has been such a great blessing to us over the years.

So am I! God is so good, and we are definitely so very blessed! I treasure my time with them so much. The older I get, the more precious it is! :)

Thanks again for such a beautiful post!

Aww...what a sweet post! :) I don't even need to get into why I think it's so very sweet, since we've had a multitude of conversations on the subject of Fathers & Daughters, Hannah. :) Instead, why don't you just pull out our conversation the most recent time at Panera and think of all things I said about my daddy and yours. :)

Haleigh....

Thanks for finally "popping" in! :)

Sorry for my absence, I was out wasting a precious $10 with my four eldest siblings. :) Something to do with minions? Ugh... cannot believe I did that!! ;0

Yes, I remember those dear conversations! Such memories... what would we do without our parents?!! Our fathers play such vital roles in our lifes, and I adore mine! But we cannot speak of this without mentioning our sweet mothers. They are our role models, given us to instruct and patiently guide us through our childhood; while loving and caring for us on the way. :) I don't know how to properly express my love and gratitude for my own mama-dearest! :)

(oh... speaking of minions and fathers, about the ONLY enjoyable thing for me was the daddy/daughter theme carried through the story. And the book at the end was cute... THAT was sweet, if I must say. :))

lol :) I cannot wait to get that letter deary. I look forward to it! :P

Minions, eh? And fathers and daughters? Ok, I am rather intrigued now! ;) Do tell what book or movie you two are talking about. You know I'm always on the lookout for more great books and movies! :)

How very true that fathers are so very vital! Study after study has shown that, but we don't even need those studies, do we? Simply reading the Word of God and thinking of our own lives and experiences show how important our dear daddies are in our lives. I realize that more day by day as my own father and I grow closer together and I get older. As we girls get older and life presents more choices, events, and opportunities, how crucial it is that we have our father's input, protection and oversight. What a blessing that is! And, I, too, adore my own father...there are so many attributes he has that I am simply so thankful for. :)

And I loved what you said about mothers, Hannah dear! So true. I don't know about you, but I all too often take my own mother dearest for granted. It's a terrible thing to do, for I don't know what I would do without her! She has so faithfully and joyfully surrendered to the Lord's Word as to what her role is to be as a wife and mother and, despite the lies of the culture which would seek to belittle her, she is joyfully at home teaching and training us each day. What a blessing! :) All this talk about mothers makes me so excited and yearn for the day when, Lord willing, I'm a mother myself. What a privilege to raise and train up the next generation in Christ-likeness! I just get so excited at the thought! ;) And, like you said, we can't mention our fathers without also talking about our dear mothers. I mean, think of all the things they do for our fathers and homes! I so look forward to the day when I myself am (Lord willing) married to a wonderful man that I can help and encourage. Won't that be so exciting, girls? :) I so look forward to the future as we all continue to grow up together and go through life's various joys together!

Love you both dearly, and so sorry for how long this turned out to be! :/

Oh! There's something I wanted to let you two fellow Jane Austen fans know! :) There is a great site called Feelin' Feminine (this site is awesome-they have great articles, links, hopechest things, giveaways etc. etc.; the owner, Jocelyn, was even so kind as to host a giveaway of my tea cozies a couple months back). Anyway, it's a great site that I'm sure y'all will love. But the reason I'm mentioning it now is because, starting tomorrow, Feelin' Feminine will be hosting a Jane Austen tour. Thought you might want to know about it! :D For more info, go here:

Enjoy! :)

Ooo! Thanks Bekah. :) I will be sure to check it out!

The minions (yellow ones, you know)were in a movie that I went to see (GASP!) with Neva, Spencer, Isaac, and daddy. I know, I honestly can't believe I went to see "Despicable Me" either. Agh! :O :)

love y'all,
~hannah

Miss Rebekah Ann S. said...

Actually, I was wrong about the date...the tour started today! :)

Oh, I should have put two and two together...I had read Geneva's post about y'all going to see that. I don't know why I didn't think of it! haha

LOL! So, I must say I am surprised that you saw it. ;) I told Geneva that I didn't think it would be on my top 10 list either (to say the least! ;) ).

Hey, girl!

You went and saw THAT movie? :) I would have thought that if y'all older kids went to see something, it would not have been that. :) Maybe...something else... lol

~I just finished my letter...want to guess how long it is?? :)

Hannah said...

Ha! Yes Haleigh, I was surprisd too. :) Spencer and I wanted to see something else (wanna guess??) but the others wouldn't, and daddy was driving, so... we went to see what we did. ;) Golly, now I want my money back!

Hum.. 56 pages?? :) lol I don't know. :) But let's keep it a surprise, shall we please?!! :)

~Hannah

Miss Rebekah Ann S. said...

haha Yeah, I would probably want my money back, too. ;) Hmmmm.....let me guess...would you rather see Toy Story 3?? :) It is AWESOME!! You'd love it. But it's much more intense than the previous two....not totally appropriate for younger kids.

See you tomorrow!! :)

Hannah said...

haha- me and those mispelled words... *surprisEd* :)

Haleigh said...

:), Toy Story 3 was really good, but I think that Spencer and Hannah wanted to see something else, Bekah. Can you take another guess?? lol Try something a little...more intense. :)

~H

P.s.
my phone is working fine, Hannah. (hint, hint) :)

Miss Rebekah Ann S. said...

Wasn't it? We all really enjoyed it; it was a great b-day present to go see it with the Hargraves (it was actually Owen's idea)! Hmmm....I don't know that I could guess another one-I've been so focused on Toy Story 3 being in the theaters, that I can't even really think of what else is in the theaters right now! lol I give up! ;)

Haleigh and Hannah,

I'm so excited about Audubon this year! :) We should probably contact the lady in charge sometime soon to insure that we get the cabin! ;) What fun!
